Originally from San Antonio, Texas, American mezzo-soprano, Alexandra Sanchez is establishing a dynamic international career, captivating audiences with her warmth, vocal versatility, and commitment to storytelling. She holds a Master of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she graduated in 2021, and made her professional debut the next season at the San Francisco Opera as Sister Claire in Dialogues of the Carmelites under Music Director, Eun Sun Kim.

This past season and recent engagements have brought new projects, continued company collaborations, and a return to the San Francisco Opera. Ms. Sanchez joined the Young Artist Program at the Glimmerglass Festival, where she performed Kate in The Pirates of Penzance, covered Doris in the company premiere of Elizabeth Cree, and participated in the workshop of Derek Bermel and Sandra Cisneros’s new opera The House on Mango Street. She returned to the San Francisco Opera to cover Mercédès in Carmen and maintains an active artistic relationship with the company.

Earlier seasons include formative work with Finger Lakes Opera, where she covered Amneris in Aïda, as well as engagements with Pensacola Opera, where she performed Alisa in Lucia di Lammermoor, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, and covered Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus. These experiences have shaped a versatile repertoire spanning leading and covering roles in major operatic works across the United States.

Most recently, Ms. Sanchez has been invited by composer, Jessé Bateman to collaborate on the premiere of a new set of songs and arias for voice and piano, reflecting her continued commitment to contemporary music and collaborative creation.

Known for her authenticity, openness, and unwavering work ethic, Alexandra approaches each role with curiosity and joy. She is committed to excellence and embraces opera as a deeply collaborative art form. Her voice, storytelling, and attention to detail create a compelling and human connection with audiences. When not onstage or in rehearsal, she enjoys time with her canine companions, Frankie and Valli, and cheering on Louisiana State University — Geaux Tigers.
